We are very pleased to offer the Music & Dance Tours to China for Talented Middle and High School Students – an opportunity students to travel to China and perform. Our China Cultural Exchange company has been promoting tours, cultural education and understanding between China and the U.S. since 1994.

Sample Itinerary

Day One New York/Beijing 
Depart New York for Beijing. Cross the International Date Line to the wonders of China. In-flight meals.

Day Two Beijing
Arrive late day in Beijing, China’s bustling capital. board your air-conditioned motor coach, sit back and enjoy the night scenery of Beijing as your bus takes you to your hotel. You will be surprised to find how modern Beijing really is. Beijing now rivals Hong Kong and Tokyo as one of the great cities of Asia. Beijing’s tourism industry has been brought up to Western standards almost overnight, with shopping malls and international hotels, all connected by an intricate freeway and subway system crisscrossing the city. Porters will handle your luggage and deliver it to your room. Exchange money at the front desk and then enjoy a good night’s sleep for a bright start the following morning. (B.L.D.)

Day Three Beijing
You will get up early today to begin your official tour of Beijing. First is the imposing Forbidden City, the secluded and guarded home to the emperors of China. From outside you cannot imagine how immense this royal palace really is until you walk through it. In front of the Forbidden City is Tiananmen Square, which at 98 acres is the largest public square in the world and site of many history-making events. A visit to the 15th century Temple of Heaven shows you where the emperors made offerings for the harvest. Today it is a popular place for local people to play chess, practice tai chi or listen to the Peking Opera. This evening attend a welcome banquet. (B.L.D.)

Day Four (Performance) Beijing
A full-day excursion takes us 40 miles north of Beijing to one of history’s most remarkable accomplishments. The Great Wall extends over 3,000 miles. Cultural Exchange Program with Beijing Yurong Experimental School. Meet and greet by the director of the school with an official introduction. Perform together with students from this school. Seminars on traditional Chinese Culture such as Chinese painting, folk songs/dances, kites, paper cutting etc. You will enjoy a Chinese Gong fu show in the evening (B.L.D.)

Day Five Beijing
You may have studied in school about the rare and endangered panda. Today you will have the chance to see some up close at the Beijing Zoo’s Panda Garden. But before we see the pandas, we’ll visit the famous Summer Palace, the largest park in Beijing, with a huge lake dug by hand in 1888. It was a favorite haunt of the Dowager Empress Cixi. A boat made entirely of marble is evidence of how she squandered China’s treasury at the end of the 19th Century. (B.L.D.)

Day Six Beijing
Today is a day for meeting the locals as we enjoy an educational walking tour through the “hutongs” – China’s alleys, courtyards, and back streets in which the local people live, work, and congregate. We’ll visit a kindergarten, meet the local people and see some of their homes, plus stop in at some of the markets, stores, and restaurants. Next, we’ll stop by Liulichang, a street renowned for its traditional fine arts. View a specially arranged Beijing Shadow Show at a local traditional theater and understand how the earliest film was made in China. This evening we will take an express overnight train to Xi’an. Day Seven Xi’an
You’ll learn about the ancient history of China today as we arrive at Xi’an in the morning to visit some of Asia’s most significant archeological discoveries. This “City of Everlasting Peace” was the capital of China for 11 dynasties and is one of the world’s largest and grandest cities. It is here that you’ll experience a once-in-a-lifetime viewing of the extraordinary 2,300-year-old terra-cotta warriors of China’s first emperor, Qinshihuang. The warriors still stand on the actual site where peasants discovered them in 1974! Later, we’ll enjoy “Xian Jiaozi” (dumpling) feast! (B.L.D.)

Day Eight (performance) Xi’an
Today you’ll meet some students of your own age at a local music school. This cultural exchange will let you make new friends, exchange e-mails and perform together with them! We’ll also visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This newly built square features a statue of Tangseng, the master of the Monkey King in the famous Chinese story “Journey to the West.” We’ll also see some Tang-style architecture in the many exhibition halls of the Shaanxi History Museum. Tonight we’ll take an express overnight train to Shanghai. (B.L.D.)

Day Nine Shanghai
Spend the day in Shanghai, China’s largest city, and the country’s most important commercial center. On our city tour, you will walk along the Bund, the famous promenade along the Huangpu River, and visit the Old Town with its winding alleyways, shops, tea houses and restaurants. Explore the tranquil Yu Yuan Gardens, an example of garden architecture from the Ming dynasty. Visit the Children’s Palace where talented Chinese children will demonstrate their artwork and performance. (B.D.)

Day Ten Journey Home from Shanghai
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for our return flight to the US, arriving home the same day. (B)
