About the Chinese Cultural Exchange
For Chinese Cultural Exchange Director Ming Hua He, nothing is closer to her heart than the good work her organization accomplishes every single day, the same rewarding work she’s performed for the past 24 years. Visit her main website for more information about her complete work through the Chinese Cultural Exchange.
Transportation: Chinese Cultural Exchange employs Air China, United and Delta Airlines as its official air carriers. In China, transportation will be via train and bus and air.
Hotels: We house our students exclusively in air-conditioned, three or four-star hotels. Each room holds two same-sex students in individual beds with a private bath.
Meals: All meals are included in the price of the trip, as are three traditional Chinese feasts. Students with individual food needs, such as Kosher or vegetarian, should indicate so on the Tour Commitment Form so special arrangements can be made.
Insurance: Trip insurance is available at an additional price for those desiring coverage in the event you must cancel your travel plans due to sickness.
Travel Wear: In addition to group uniforms, students and chaperones should pack comfortable, warm-weather clothing and comfortable shoes.
Learn About China: We will provide several handouts about the culture, language, and history of China and host learning sessions for students, chaperones and parents.
Chaperones: The trip will be fully chaperoned by band members’ parents and school faculty, and include a tour doctor. Please keep in mind the specific requirements of your Board of Education regarding student/chaperone ratios. Because of the tremendous amount of work and responsibility a chaperone must take on, the Chinese Cultural Exchange recommends each student be required to add a nominal fee to their tour cost to assist with paying a portion of the fee for chaperones and the doctor.
Fundraising: There are many creative ways for your group to raise the money needed to take our Music Ambassadors to China tour. Some students who have traveled on school trips use fundraising companies to sell things like candy, magazine subscriptions, and other popular goods. Others hold benefit concerts, car washes, bake sales, etc.
Payment Schedule: An initial deposit of $300 is due with the submission of the signed Trip Commitment Form. This deposit is only refundable (less a 50 percent administrative charge) should a replacement traveler be found. The full schedule of payments are due as follows:
- 1st Deposit: $300 with trip Commitment Form
- 2nd Deposit: 30% of total trip 120 days before departure
- Final Balance: 100% of total trip 60 days before departure.
The Next Step
In order for this excellent student opportunity to move forward, we’ll need the approval of everyone involved including the instructors, students, parents and if a school group, that of your school administration. We suggest an early evening meeting, where Chinese Cultural Exchange representatives will present this proposal to students and parents.
